How to prepare for your guided fly fishing trip:
-
Waders and Boots, Rods and Reels will be provided by your guide. We typically use 9 foot 5 & 6 weight rods, depending upon location and conditions. Of course, you are welcome to bring your own gear if you would prefer.
Other equipment provided by your guide: Flies, leaders and tippet, tackle (indicators, weight, etc.).
On full day trips, a lunch will be provided by your guide.
You will be responsible for the following:
Rain jacket and weather-appropriate clothing
Sun screen and hat.
Socks to wear under waders.
Sun glasses
Change of dry clothes - just in case!
Most importantly… your fishing license!
-
The Caney Fork River is a tailwater, meaning water levels are determined by generation from the dam. Water can rise at any time, based on when the dam is generating water.
When scheduling your trip, the start time may change depending on the generation schedule.

Guide gratuity is not included as part of your payment and is by no means mandatory. However, gratuity is very appreciated. Gratuity amounts are discretionary. The average gratuity in the fly fishing industry is 20%.
